NORTH PHINNEY CRAFTSMAN
A new kitchen and more storage was the primary focus of this 'final remodel' for a couple choosing to stay in their home of 20 years. The storage was to serve the living, dining and kitchen areas which all face south. To add on to this side of the house would have required eliminating their south windows or enclosing the house's signature front porch. The final design instead included a small addition to a north bedroom which freed up space to add closets to the center of the house without sacrificing footprint. South facing windows were preserved and front porch left intact. New fir bookcases, a bench seat and two closets provide the needed storage. The kitchen was opened up to the dining area to share more daylight and give an open feeling to the house. A rebuilt fireplace with handmade ceramic tiles and flanking bookcases are now the focal point for this revived bungalow.
